More content isn’t always the answer. Better distribution might be.

Before you add another post to the calendar, ask how the right people will actually see it.

Start with the journey

A good piece of content needs somewhere to go. Think about where your customer first encounters your business, what they need to understand and what would make a useful next step. A post that has no relationship to that journey can become another task ticked off without moving the conversation forward.

Give each idea a job

Some content helps a person discover you. Some answers a question. Some makes your offer easier to understand. Decide which job you need an idea to do before choosing the format. Then make its next step clear: read the guide, explore the service or ask a question.

Build distribution into the brief

When planning a useful idea, plan how it can travel. A detailed website explanation might become a short video, a series of social posts and a follow-up answer to a common enquiry. Adapt the message to the setting rather than copying it everywhere unchanged.

Review the right signals

Look beyond the number of posts published. Are relevant people visiting your website? Are enquiries becoming more specific? Are prospects better informed when you speak? Use those questions to decide what to repeat, what to improve and what to stop.
